Friday, October 28th, 2005

After some boring weekend finally have some activity for this weekend…indeed a lot of it !! First since friday been to tokyo for world pc expo fair 2005 or what is like pc fair in msia. Since i was in tokyo very early in the morning…went to asakusa ~ a place famous for its century old temple. It was so early in the morning that there is almost no ppl at all…:( But the scenery was great…the building around looks old too !!

Then there is still time left then i visited Ginza ~ famous for its branded shop all around.Again too early that i missed the chance to see high-class ppl but at least the pedestrian road i saw is sure more high-class than normal 1.It is so wide that a lorry can pass through !! anyway here is a very famous view of Ginza…

Then have some breakfast and head to the site of PC fair…The site is fabuluos and very huge but sad to say actually inside the hall u can feel some sort of empty not like in Msia where shop after shop sit side by side and feel very hard to walk indeed. Japan PC fair is very diff…1st :they pratically are not selling pc items but just showing off their latest gadgets like some sort of promotion though there is still some shops left that actually do business where i bought a 512mb sd card for 3k,10 dvd-r 300yen , usb~sd converter 400yen ..nice bargain?

2nd. quite a number of shoplot selling original software like neroburner , new microsoft office etc where in Msia is an unseen sight ..:p

3rd.A lot of performance…example booth casio have show for every 30 mins with some latin dancers dancing around while promoting their latest tech.

4th.forums are being held to teach public bout latest pc world happening or even how to build up ur own computer….

Anyway there are some similarities too…1st. dont care you shop or not but u will end up going back with a lot of papers and plastic bags !! 2nd sellers r shouting to get attention  3rd. bunch of scantily clad ladies

By the way my college is having some-sort of open day this weekend and im planning to go to yet another expo on sunday or monday…though this expo is promised to be much better !!

ooo…forgot to explain a bit bout the place i visited in my last blog. Norikura kougen is act a place 1400m above sea level means it is very cool especially during this time of autumn. It is famous as a mountainous region and for its special blueberry and apple. This area also fame for its horse meat ( bashashi ) , mind u it is considered exotic food and they eat it raw !! even free i will think twice…

Back to main point…act after 1st day of work we plan to walk around but we were too tire and just went straight to bed.The next day woke up very early in the morning and work till afternoon.Prepare for customer breakfast then clean up the pension…this time i realised when good is not good enough…i gave my best but they complained i was abit slow and didnt do the job well. In my heart i feel wat !!abit down and frustrated but i know i got no right to complain but keep on doing :( When i see my fren they were running here n there while doing job then only i finally understand why jap always rush here n there while working !!

At last after the morning job done we were given 4 hours break…much needed break ! Bought a 1-day free bus pass and visited a 40m high waterfall , souvenir shops , crystal clear river view where i said i feel like swimming in it then my jap fren turned their face on me and said dont forget those word. I can sense smth bad coming. They bring me to a river and "hey take a dive"they said !!

Gosh i forgot we were in mountain and it is autumn which means the water is damn cold…almost reach freezing point and they start laughing and said in a serious tone my heart will stop beating if i really swim in it !!thanks , I just touched it only !!

Then next we played some golf…1 of my fren who is the president of golf club in our school encouraged us to play ( maybe he wanna show how good is he ) was so arrogant at 1st and swinging the golf club here n there saying how he will beat us.Course 1 and 2 he won with ease…but dunno wat happened i got some beginner’s luck and finished the 3rd course under par and better than him..:p

But still overall i lost to him but 1 more fren who is also a beginner got the better of him and we ended the day criticising him !!

The second night of work was more happening. I was "promoted" where im trusted to bring out the meal to customer. In my first encounter with customer suprisingly I was being asked…i was so nervous at that time…knowing my jap is still not perfect how if i hear it wrongly, how if i gave wrong answer !! She was asking if the wine i served is "nomiyasui" (i caught the main point only..act she said alot in front…ya u know japanese useless manner intro ) I saw the chef mix it with alot of water so i think it should be yes then i told her yes…and then quickly went back and confirmed with the chef !! Luckily the answer was right !!

Then the more i was being asked the more my confidence builds on…then we had our dinner which was very delicious ( genghis khan barbeque ) The 2nd nite too ended with no energy left to go 4 some outing.

The next early morning did some same routine work and i accidently broke 1 glass…but the owner was so kind he didnt even usher a word of anger instead gave me a smile and said "ahh, souka" !! After cleaning up the whole pension around 1 in the afternoon ,it is time for us to leave !! Then the owner suprised us when he gave us payment as a normal part-time worker there…hey we sleep and eat..and now take his money…the owner is simply just too good. im touched. We got almost rm20 per hour work ( considered cheap in Jpn where u can get rm30 plus for an hour work ) but hey..we supposed to get nothing !!

Dont tell me u dunno who is me in the pic…if u cant tell stop reading pls..:p

The owner send us to straight to train station which is quite far.1 hour plus car ride…again very kind of him.He even stopped once to show us the second biggest dam in Japan. The first is nearby too !!

There is a saying that the scene where the main actress running down from stairs in the famous miyazaki anime "千と千尋" come from the view here !!

That was not all he even treated us to a very expensive coffee shop house. There , i realised that real nice coffee need no sugar or milk or shake it here n there like those in starbucks. Sorry to starbucks fan if u feel hurt..:p

Next we just changed between buses and trains and lastly taxi which took us 5 hours plus to get back to home. Was a very memorable holiday…ooppss did i just mistaken again should be a nice arubaito !!

baito? holiday ?

Monday, October 10th, 2005

halo everybody…long time didnt post anything and feel so energetic to write a long blog today !! i just back from a holiday cum part-time job.Sounds confusing ?? read it and u judge it for me…..

the story starts like this…As ur information it just turned autumn in Japan , and me being a foreigner was so eager to see autumn special red flower view or they call  kouyou 紅葉 in japanese. My japanese friend then start planning a trip they said especially tailored for me eventhough i think they themselves wanna go also too wat..!! :p First they suggested kyoto which i politely rejected because the holiday is just only 3 days and it is far from my place. Then one of my friend suggested somewhere much nearer but another jap friend who i considered money conscious complained it is costly. Then he said.." hey , how bout we go to norikura kougen ( it is in nagano ).I worked there during last summer holiday so i will ask the boss to let us eat and stay free but in return we will work for him " It was like killing 2 birds with a stone…3 of us was fast to agree with this idea!! Me too was so happy as i can experience working for japanese !!

So after few weeks the day has arrived and here we go for holiday..oopss should be go to work.We headed for nagano straight after class on friday and we stayed the night in matsumoto city where i 1st saw a real japanese castle…

Photo

next day , very early in the morning we headed for our destination. But b4 that we went to a very famous hot spring which is white in colour and loosely translated from japanese word (白骨温泉)as white-bone hot spring. As every1 is naked no photo is allowed so i cant show u here how it looks like…:p

That evening we reached our real destination and with short self-introduction straight up to work-work and work !! After some table-setting job ,basically my job is just to wash dishes and return it to its place after that.Thought it was very easy but i was wrong…japanese are crazy : for 1 person meal they use up almost 50 plates, cups, small plate to fill this and that etc…washing is easy but stand while washing for few hours non-stop was a bit tough for my back..not forgetting that there is always worry of breaking those look-so-expensive-dishes !! And with so many kind of dishes…job of returning was frustating too as i dunno most of the original place and have to keep asking !!Kif_2232First day ended quite peacefully..

Do I look cool in apron ??

Still got alot to write but it is almost 12…i can only online till 12 like cinderella so pity…will continue next day !!
